Almond Bars
1 cup butter or margarine
1-2/3 cups almond paste
1-3/4 cups sugar
2 eggs
2 cups self-rising flour
1/2 cup sliced almonds
Recipe
Preheat oven to 300°F. Spray a 13x9-inch baking pan with non-stick vegetable spray.
In a large mixing bowl, combine butter and almond paste; beat until well blended. Add eggs and sugar; beat until
smooth. Stir in flour until blended. Pour into prepared baking pan, patting it into the corners. Sprinkle with sliced
almonds; press lightly into the dough.
Bake for 40 minutes or until edges are golden brown. Cool in pan on a wire rack. Cut into bars.
(Yield: 2 dozen)
