Sweeten and drain pulp of 1 grapefruit.
Cream 1/2 cup shortening, add 1/2 cup sugar. Beat 2 eggs--add to shortening mixture. Add 1 cup milk. Sift 2 teaspoons baking powder with 3 cups flour and 1 teaspoon salt. Add 1/4 teaspoon baking soda to 1 cup grapefruit pulp. Add to first mixture. Put in muffin tins. Bake 1/2 hour at 350 degrees.
