Caramel Cookie Dessert

1 can caramel ice cream topping
2 litres vanilla ice cream
2 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 cup oatmeal (not instant)
1/2 cup dark-brown sugar packed
1 cup butter
1 cup chopped pecans Recipe
First, make the cookie. Cream sugar and room-temperature butter. Add the flour, oatmeal and pecans. Spread and flatten on a greased cookie sheet. Bake 15 minutes at 400 F. Let cool. Crumble the cookie and spread half of the cookie crumbs in buttered 9x13-inch cake pan. Drizzle with one-third of the caramel sauce. Layer with half the ice cream. Add remaining cookie crumbs, drizzle with another third of the caramel sauce. Layer with remaining ice cream. Drizzle with remaining caramel sauce, cover and freeze until ready to serve. Remove from freezer to refrigerator half an hour before serving. Makes a 9x13 inch pan.
