This is a really neat sugar cookie recipe given to me by an Amish woman in Tennessee. We tried the recipe and it makes a really moist, not overpoweringly sweet, sugar cookie. Frosting on them really makes them sing!:) Enjoy the sugar cookies! - Kevin Williams, Amish Cook Editor
List of Ingredients
1 cup powdered sugar
1 cup granulated sugar
1 cup butter or margerine
1 cup cooking oil
2 eggs, slightly beaten
4 1/2 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon cream of tartar
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 cup sugar (to roll cookie dough before baking)Recipe
Cream sugars, butter (or margerine,) cooking oil, vanilla and eggs. Sift together flour, soda, cream of tartar and salt. Gradually mix with dry ingredients. Form about two teaspoons of cookie dough into a ball and roll in sugar. Place on non-greased cookie sheet and flatten with a fork. Bake at 375°F for 10-12 minutes on middle oven rack.
