    German Chocolate Upside Down Cake

    1 c flaked sweetened coconut
    1 c chopped pecans
    1 pkg German chocolate cake mix
    eggs, water, and oil as directed on pkg
    8 oz cream cheese, room temperature
    1/2 c butter or margarine, room temperature
    1 pound confectioners' sugar unsifted

    Recipe



    Grease and flour 9x13x2" baking pan. Heat oven 350°. Sprinkle coconut and pecans evenly over bottom of prepared pan. Prepare cake mix with water, oil, and eggs, following pkg directions. Pour cake batter over coconut and pecans. Beat together cream cheese, butter and confectioners' sugar. Drop by spoonfuls over top of cake batter. Bake about 45-50 mins. A toothpick should come out clean when inserted into center of cake portion. Cool cake in pan on rack.

    To serve, cut into individual serving-size pieces and, using a spatula , remove from pan and turn upside-down on dessert plates.
