    Iced Spiced Ginger Bars

    2 cups all-purpose flour
    1 cup granulated sugar
    1 teaspoon baking soda
    1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
    1 teaspoon ground ginger
    1 teaspoon ground cloves
    1/8 teaspoon salt
    1 cup hot coffee
    1 cup butter or margarine
    1/2 cup molasses
    2 eggs

    Glaze:
    1/3 cup butter
    1/3 cup confectioners` sugar
    1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
    3 tablespoons water

    Recipe



    Heat oven to 350F. Grease a 15x10" or a 13x9" baking pan. In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking soda, spices, salt, coffee, a cup butter, molasses and eggs. Beat 2 minutes at medium speed. Pour into prepared pan. Bake for 25-30 minutes. Let cool.

    To make frosting:
    In a small saucepan over low heat, melt butter until light golden brown, stirring constantly. Add confectioners' sugar, vanilla extract and water. Blend until smooth. You may need to add a little more water. Spread over cooled bars.
