    4 sticks (1 pound) margarine, room temperature
    2 cups sugar, plus additional for dipping
    3 cups flour
    2 teaspoons baking soda
    2 teaspoons cream of tartar
    2 teaspoons vanilla
    4 cups cornflakes (do not crush)
    2 cups chopped pecans

    Recipe



    Cream margarine. Add 2 cups sugar. Beat well. Add flour, soda, cream of tartar and vanilla. Mix well. Stir in cornflakes and pecans. Refrigerate until firm. Preheat oven to 350°F. Form dough into large walnut-size balls. Arrange on baking sheets. Flatten with a glass dipped in additional sugar. Bake 12 minutes. Cool slightly on baking sheets before transferring to racks to cool completely. Makes 6 dozen.
