1 cup butter, softened
1 1/2 cup sugar
2 eggs
1/4 anise extract (or almond)
3 cups flour
1 1/2 tsp aniseed
1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp baking soda

In a large bowl cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs and the extract. Combine the flour, aniseed, salt, baking powder and soda. Gradually add to the creamed mixture and mix well. Shape into 1" balls and place on greased or parchment lined cookie sheets. Flatten with a cup dipped in sugar. Bake at 375°F for 6-7 minutes or until set. The inside will be a bit softer than the outside.
