Recipe Introduction
If you are short on time, you can use a frozen pie crust, thawed.
List of Ingredients
For the Pie Crust:
6 tablespoons butter
1 cup flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
3 to 5 tablespoons ice cold water
For the Filling:
4 tablespoons butter, melted, cooled
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup flour
2 eggs, lightly beaten
1 cup walnuts
1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
1 teaspoon vanilla
Recipe
1. To prepare pie crust, cut butter into flour and salt using a pastry blender, two knives or your fingers until the mixture is the consistency of coarse cornmeal.
2. Add water, one tablespoon at a time, until mixture holds together and pulls away from the side of the bowl. (You may not need to use all the water called for.) Form dough into a ball and turn out onto a lightly floured surface.
3. Roll dough into a circle large enough to fit your pie plate. To place the dough into the pie plate, roll the dough around your rolling pie; unroll the dough into the pie pan and press against the side and bottom.
4. Preheat oven to 350°F. To prepare the filling, sift the sugar and flour together. Stir in eggs. Add butter and mix thoroughly. Add walnuts and chocolate chips. Stir in vanilla. Pour into pie shell and bake for 30 minutes or until toothpick inserted into middle comes out clean.
