    Fried Cabbage (2 versions)

    Fried Cabbage I
    3 T bacon grease or butter
    1 lb cabbage coarsely shredded
    1 tsp salt
    1/2 tsp pepper
    dash of garlic powder (opt.)
    1/3 c milk

    Put bacon grease or butter in skillet, add cabbage, seasonings, and milk. Cover tightly and simmer for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.


    Fried Cabbage II
    1 small onion, chopped
    5 or 6 slices bacon, chopped
    1 tablespoon butter
    1 head cabbage

    Fry onion, bacon, and butter till bacon is cooked. Add cabbage, turn on low heat, cover and simmer until cabbage turns a milky white. Stir to keep from sticking.
