Recipe Introduction
Now and then, a favorite vegetable needs to be served differently. This is a welcomed change for carrots.
List of Ingredients
6 cups diced cooked carrots
3 TBSP minced onions
4 cups medium thick white sauce (recipe follows)
1 1/2 cups buttered bread crumbs
salt to tasteRecipe
Cook, drain, and dice carrots. Place in a well greased casserole. Mix together the onions and white sauce, pour over the carrots. Season with salt, then sprinkle the buttered bread crumbs on top. Bake at 400 degrees F until the top is golden brown.
WHITE SAUCE
4 cups milk
3/4 cup flour
3/4 cup butter or margarine
1 tsp salt
pepper to taste
In a saucepan, combine butter and flour, add milk slowly, stirring constantly. Cook over hot water until the mixture is smooth and thick. Add salt and pepper to taste.
