    6 c. purple plums chopped in small peices
    1/ 2 c. water
    4 c. sugar
    1 Tbsp. lemon juice

    Combine plums and water in pan (enamel or stainless steel). Bring to a boil; reduce heat to low and cook until fruit is tender. Measure sugar in bowl. Warm on low pilot heat. When fruit is tender, add sugar and lemon juice. Stir until sugar is dissolved. Increase heat and boil 30 minutes, stirring to prevent burning. Pour into hot sterilized jars. Yield: 6 cups.
