    This is absolutely the best french toast I have ever eaten.


    List of Ingredients


    • 6 extra large eggs
    • 1 1/2 cups half & half
    • 1 teaspoon grated orange zest
    • 1/2 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
    • 1 tablespoon good honey
    • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
    • 1 large loaf challah or brioche bread
    • SERVE WITH:
    • Praline syrup (see my recipe)
    • confectioners sugar
    • raspberry jam


    Instructions


    1. Preheat oven to 250 degrees.
    2. In large shallow bowl, whisk together the eggs, half & half, orange zest, vanilla, honey, and salt. Slice the challah in 3/4 inch thick slices.
    3. Soak bread in egg mixture for approx 5 minutes turning once.
    4. Heat 1 Tablespoon butter and 1 Tablespoon oil in large saute pan over medium heat. Add the soaked bread and cook for 2-3 minutes on each side until lightly browned.
    5. Place the cooked french toast on a sheet pan and keep warm in the oven until ready to serve with syrup or jam.
