List of Ingredients
1/2cup finely chopped onion
1package (16 ounces) liverwurst
1/4cup mayonnaise or salad dressing
1/4cup finely chopped dill pickle
1tablespoon drained capers
2teaspoons horseradish mustard or spicy brown mustard
2teaspoons dried dill weed
1/4small dill pickle, cut into strips
Crackers or cocktail rye breadRecipe
Heat butter in small saucepan over medium heat until melted.
Add onion; cook and stir 5 minutes or until tender.
Set aside.
Mash liverwurst with fork in medium bowl; beat in onion, mayonnaise, chopped dill pickle, capers, mustard and dill weed.
Form liverwurst mixture into football shape on serving plate; decorate with dill pickle strips to look like football laces.
Serve with crackers.

For added flavor, serve this spread with mustard toast instead of rye bread.
To prepare mustard toast, lightly spread horseradish mustard or spicy brown mustard onto cocktail rye bread slices.
Broil 4 inches from heat until lightly browned.
