French Toast: French Toast Custard

- 4-5 slices French Bread
- 3 Tbls. margarine
- 2 eggs
- 1 egg yolk
- 1 1/2 cups milk
- 1/2 cup whipping cream
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1/2 Tbls. vanilla extract
- 1/8 tsp. nutmeg
- Powdered sugar
Instructions
- Butter both sides of bread and place in an 8x8 greased baking dish.
- In a bowl beat the eggs and yolk.
- Add milk, cream, sugar, vanilla and nutmeg; mix well.
- Pour over the bread.
- Cover and refrigerate over night.
- Remove from frig 1/2 hr before baking.
- Bake uncovered @ 350 for 45-55 minutes til center is cooked.
- Cool a few minutes before serving.
- Sprinkle with powdered sugar before serving.
