    List of Ingredients




    Cake:
    2 cups sugar
    4 eggs
    1 cup vegetable oil
    3 cups all purpose flour
    1 teaspoon salt
    1 teaspoon baking soda
    3 cups thinly sliced apples
    1 cup chopped pecans or walnuts
    1 recipe Caramel Topping - recipe below
    Garnish: pecan halves

    Caramel Topping:
    1/2 cup sugar
    1/2 cup firmly packed brown sugar
    4 tablespoons butter
    1/4 cup evaporated milk
    1 teaspoon vanilla extract

    Recipe



    Cake:
    Sift together flour, salt, and soda and set aside;
    In a large bowl, beat sugar, eggs, and oil at medium speed until smooth.
    Stir in flour mixture and mix by hand until thoroughly combined.
    Add apples and nuts.
    Gently stir until evenly distributed in batter.
    Spread in a greased 13x9x2 pan.
    Place in a COLD OVEN and bake 325º for 50 - 55 minutes...let cool.
    Pour warm topping over cake in pan and add pecan garnish. Cut into squares to serve.

    Caramel Topping:
    Mix all ingredients in a small saucepan and bring to a boil. Cook for 2 minutes, stirring constantly. Stir in vanilla
