    Caramel Crumb Apple Pie

    List of Ingredients


    • 6 cups peeled, sliced baking apples
    • 1 Tbls. lemon juice
    • 1/2 cup sugar
    • 3 Tbls. flour
    • 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
    • 1 unbaked 9" pie crust
    • 28 caramels
    • 1 can evaporated milk
    • TOPPING:
    • 1/4 cup flour
    • 1/3 cup packed brown sugar
    • 2 Tbls. margarine
    • 1/2 tsp. cinnamon


    Instructions


    1. Combine topping ingredients and spread into an ungreased 8x8 baking pan.

    2. Bake @ 400 for 6-8 minutes; cool and crumble and set aside

    3. Sprinkle apples with the lemon juice.

    4. Combine sugar, flour and cinnamon; toss with the apples.

    5. Place the apples in the bottom of th epie crust.

    6. Cut a circle of foil to cover the apples. Place over apples and bake @ 425 for 10 minutes.

    7. Reduce heat to 376 and bake 35 more minutes.

    8. Meanwhile in a sauce pan melt the caramels with the milk; stir frequently.

    9. Remove foil from pie and pour caramel mix over apples.

    10. Sprinkle topping over caramels.

    11. Bake for 5 more minutes.

    12. Best if served warm
