    Country Fried Steak

    List of Ingredients


    • 3/4 cup flour
    • 1/4 cup cornmeal
    • salt and pepper to taste
    • 4 beef cube steaks
    • 2 eggs
    • 2 tsp. milk
    • 4 Tbls. oil
    • GRAVY:
    • 1 Tbls. pan drippings
    • 2 Tbls. milk
    • 1 tsp beef bouillon granules
    • salt and pepper to taste


    Instructions


    1. In a shallow bowl mix the flour, cornmeal, salt and pepper.

    2. In another bowl beat the eggs with the milk.

    3. Coat steaks in flour mix; then milk mix; then flour again. Let set 2 minutes.

    4. Meanwhile heat 2 Tbls. oil. Fry cube steak for about 5-6 minutes on each side.

    5. Remove steaks and keep warm.

    6. In same pan, drain off all but 1 tbls. of pan drippings. Whisk in flour and cook 1 minute.

    7. Blend on milk until smooth.

    8. Cook til ready to boil; add beef granules,salt and pepper.

    9. Cook a few minutes til thick.

    10. Serve over steaks with mashed potatoes

    This is a classic ... must be served with mashed potatoes
