DESSERTS: Pumpkin Scones

40 grams butter (1/3 cup)
3/4 cups cooked mashed pumpkin
2 1/2 cups self rising flour
1/3 cup milk
1/4 cup fine sugar
1 egg beaten slightly
1/2 tsp nutmegRecipe
Lightly grease 2 20 CM round pans (8")
Beat butter and sugar in a small bowl until light and fluffy.
Gradually add in the egg.
Transfer mixture to a large bowl, stirring in the pumpkin, then the sifted dry ingredients and enough milk to make a soft sticky dough.
Turn dough out onto a floured surface.
Knead lightly until smooth.
Press dough out to about 2 CM (1") thickness.
Cut 5 CM (2 1/2")rounds from the dough.
Place rounds, just touching in pans.
Brush tops with a little milk.
Bake scones in a very hot oven for about 15 minutes.
Makes about 16.
Recipe is best if made just before serving.
