    DESSERTS: Sour Cream Banana Cake with Caramel Frosting

    List of Ingredients

    CREAM and beat together until thick and fluffy:
    1/4 cup butter
    1 1/3 cups sugar
    2 eggs
    1 tsp.vanilla

    Sift together:
    2 cups unbleached flour
    1 tsp baking powder
    1 tsp. soda
    3/4 tsp.salt

    ADD dry ingredients to the creamed mixture alternately with:
    1 cup sour cream

    ADD:
    2 medium-ripe bananas (mashed)
    1/2 cup chopped nuts

    STIR briefly and turn into a butter 9x13 pan & bake @ 350 degrees for 35-40 minutes. Test with a toothpick in center for doneness.

    Recipe

    CARAMEL FROSTING:
    1/2 cup butter
    1/2 cup brown sugar
    1/4 cup cream or evaporated milk
    When mixture boils (you need to stir constantly) remove from the heat and cool.

    When mixture becomes warm to the touch ADD:
    2 1/4 cups powdered sugar
    1 tsp. vanilla
    Beat until smooth and spread on the cake.
