    Brandied Blackberry Granita

    Source of Recipe

    Nob Hill - Something Extra

    Recipe Introduction

    Prep time: 10 minutes,
    Chill time: 16 hours total

    List of Ingredients

    1 (6-oz.) container fresh blackberries
    2 cups water
    2 cups sugar
    2/3 cup lemon juice
    1/3 cup blackberry brandy
    Fresh mint sprigs (optional garnish)

    Recipe

Puree blackberries in a blender or food processor; press through a fine mesh sieve with a wooden spoon to strain out seeds. Heat water and sugar in a medium saucepan until sugar is dissolved. Remove from heat and let stand to
cool; stir in blackberry puree, lemon juice and brandy.

Pour into a large loaf pan (or other similarly shaped container); cover and freeze for 8 hours. Scrape the top with a fork until mixture is slushy. Return to freezer for at least 4 more hours; scrape with a fork again until light and icy. Freeze for at least 4 hours again.
Garnish with fresh mint sprigs, if you like.

    Makes 8 servings.

TIP: No lemon juice? Lime juice will work just fine.
