    Meat Filled Turnovers

    Serves 6-8


    List of Ingredients


    • Pastry
    • 1 pkg. of double-crust pastry (14 oz. - makes about 12 to 16 four-inch squares)
    • Filling
    • 1 tbsp. vegetable or corn oil
    • 2 tbsps. minced garlic
    • 1/4 cup minced onion
    • 1/4 cup minced tomatoes
    • 1 cup ground veal
    • 1 cup ground pork
    • 1 cup ground or chopped chicken
    • salt and pepper to taste
    • 1 cup chopped hard-boiled eggs (4 or 5 eggs)
    • 1 cup chopped sweet pickles


    Instructions


    1. Flatten pastry to a thickness of 1/8 inch.
    2. Cut into 4-inch squares. Set aside.
    3. In a medium skillet, heat oil.
    4. Saute garlic, onion and tomatoes.
    5. Cook until garlic is brown and onions turn transparent.
    6. Add veal, pork and chicken.
    7. Add eggs and pickles.
    8. Cook for 5 minutes longer.
    9. Allow the mixture to cool.
    10. Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
    11. Fill each piece of dough with a spoonful of the mixture.
    12. Fold to form a triangle.
    13. Wet the edges with water and seal.
    14. Arrange on a cookie sheet and bake the pastries for 25 to 30 minutes.
