Recipe Introduction
This dish is one of the most popular dishes found on the menus at both Isabella’s Wharfside Restaurant located on Fisherman’s Wharf in Monterey and Chef Shake’s Lattitudes at Lovers Point adjacent to the beautiful Monterey Bay in Pacific Grove. Try it at home or drop in at either restaurant to give this perennial favorite a try.
List of Ingredients
1 Whole Dungeness crab, cooked, cleaned and claws cracked
1/2 lb Herbed Compound Butter (butter, garlic, parsley, basil, salt and pepper blended together)
4 each cloves of garlic, coarsely chopped
Juice of ½ fresh lemonRecipe
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F
Heat a non-stick sauté pan over medium high heat.
Add the compound butter and the garlic to the pan and allow to heat but not brown.
Add the crab to the sauté pan and sauté until it is coated in the butter.
Squeeze the ½ lemon over the crab mixture.
Place crab into a shallow baking dish and put into preheated oven for 15 mins.
Remove from the oven and allow to cool slightly before serving.
Serving Suggestions:
Try this dish with lots of crusty sourdough bread to soak up the butter and an organic green salad with a simple vinaigrette. Crab is delicious with a bright, crisp Sauvignon Blanc or a buttery Monterey County Chardonnay.
