Recipe Introduction


When we lived in Ohio, Maid-Rites were everywhere. If you ever watched Roseanne on TV when she had her "loose meat" restaurant, I'm almost certain that she was referring to maid-rite sandwiches. They're very midwestern.





List of Ingredients



• 1 lb ground beef
  
• 1 cup beer
  
• 1 tsp sugar
  
• 2 Tb prepared mustard
  
• 1/2 tsp pepper
  
• salt to taste
  






Instructions



1. Put beer and meat in the top of a double boiler.
   
2. Steam meat with lid on for 10-15 minutes.
   
3. Drain off fat.
   
4. Mix in remaining ingredients.
   
5. Serve on soft buns and garnish with pickle, onion, and mustard if desired.
