    Chocolate Snickerdoodle Cookies

    1 1/3 cups sugar

    1/4 cup cocoa powder

    1 3/4 cups flour

    1/2 teaspoon baking powder

    3/4 cup finely chopped or ground pecans

    Instructions for Jar:



    Place sugar in 1-quart jar and smooth over.

    Gently spoon cocoa powder evenly over sugar. Spoon flour and baking powder over cocoa.

    Press down lightly.



    Add pecans to jar on top of flour and press down firmly. Place lid on jar to close.



    Instructions for Baking:



    1 egg

    3/4 cup (1 1/2 sticks) butter, softened

    2 tablespoons milk

    1 teaspoon vanilla

    3 tablespoons sugar

    1 1/2 teaspoons cinnamon



    Preheat oven to 375 degrees.



    Empty contents of jar into large mixing bowl.

    Add egg, butter or margarine, milk and vanilla.



    Beat on low speed or by hand until dough is thoroughly blended. Cover dough and refrigerate for 1 hour.



    In small bowl, combine 3 tablespoons sugar and 1 1/2 teaspoons cinnamon. Stir to completely mix.



    Take pieces of dough and roll into 1-inch balls.

    Roll balls in the sugar cinnamon mixture and place 2-inches apart on ungreased cookie sheet.



    Bake for 10 to 11 minutes or until lightly browned around edges. Remove from oven and let cookies cool on cookie sheet for 1 minute.

    Transfer to cooling rack. Makes about 4 dozen
