List of Ingredients
- 2/3 C. butter-flavored Crisco
- 1 C. superfine sugar
- 1 jumbo egg
- 1 tsp. pure vanilla
- 2 C. unbleached flour
- 1 1/4 tsp. apple pie spice
- 1 tsp. cinnamon
- 1 tsp. baking powder
- 1 tsp. baking soda
- 1/2 tsp. sea salt
- 1 C. Honey Crisp apple, peeled and finely diced
- 3/4 C. walnuts, chopped
- DIPPING SUGAR
- 1 tsp. apple pie spice
- 1 tsp. cinnamon
- 1/2 C. regular sugar
Instructions
- Cream Crisco and sugar. Beat in egg and vanilla. Combine dry ingredients, except dipping sugar ingredients, stir half into the creamed mixture. Stir in apples, nuts and remaining dry mixture. Mix dipping sugar ingredients in a small bowl and set aside.
- Roll a teaspoonful of dough with hands. Before placing on the cookie sheet dip the tops of the dough balls into the dipping sugar then place 2 inches apart onto a parchment lined cookie sheet. If you like crispy cookies roll the whole dough ball in the sugar. Put cookie sheet into the icebox for at least 3 minutes before baking. Bake at 350 degrees F. for approximately 10 minutes or until golden brown but still light.. Remove to wire racks to cool.
Final Comments
If you have apple extract a 1/4 tsp. is a nice addition.
