A Southern tradition.





List of Ingredients



• 1 cup cornmeal, white (of course)
  
• 1 teaspoon salt
  
• 1 tablespoon sugar
  
• 1 tablespoon oil
  
• 1 cup boiling water
  
• 1 egg
  
• 1 heating teaspoon baking powder
  
• 1 cup milk
  






Instructions



1. Mix first five ingredients and let cool. Add remaining ingredients. Place in a buttered casserole dish.
   
2. Bake at 350 degrees about 45 minutes.
   






Final Comments


I've added a can of cream-style corn to this and cut the milk by about half. It's sort of a cornbread pudding.
