Mamma's Biscuits for Shortcake

List of Ingredients



• 2 cups flour, sifted
  
• 1/2 teaspoon salt
  
• 4 tablespoons shortening
  
• 3 teaspoons baking powder
  
• 3/4 cup milk
  






Instructions



1. Sift together the flour, baking powder and salt. Cut shortening into dry ingredients using knives or a pastry blender.
   
2. Make a soft dough with milk. Turn onto a well-floured board; divide dough into two parts; roll out and cut with biscuit cutter.
   
3. Brush surfaces of biscuits with melted butter. Place one biscuit on top of another.
   
4. Bake at 450 degrees for 20 minutes.
