Mamma's Shortcake Topping
Mamma called this shortcake, but I expect that it's more a cobbler since it's baked on top of fruit.
List of Ingredients
- 1 cup self-rising flour
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 3 tablespoons shortening [butter?]
- 1/2 cup milk
Instructions
- Mix topping [ingredients together] and drop by spoonfuls over fruit.
- Bake at 400 degrees for 30 minutes. Serve warm.
Final Comments
Serves 6.
I would think that any fruit would do. Since there are no quantities given for the fruit, I expect the amount doesn't matter much. I'd start with about 4 cups of cut up fruit. I always like more fruit than many recipes suggest since I think more rather than less is healthier.
