Mamma's Broccoli Casserole
Mamma may have been interrupted as she wrote this. There are no directions given. I debated about including the recipe in our collection, but decided that the ingredients sounded good enough by themselves. Therefore, I'm guessing at the directions, but I bet this will be good no matter how it's arranged.
List of Ingredients
- 2 10-ounce packages broccoli
- 2 cups small frozen onions
- 1/4 cup butter
- 1 tablespoon flour
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup milk
- 1 3-ounce package cream cheese
- 1/2 cup shredded sharp cheese
- 1 cup bread crumbs
Instructions
- Cook broccoli and onions until barely tender. Drain well.
- Meanwhile, in a small saucepan, melt butter. Add flour and cook briefly. Add salt and cream cheese. Cook on low until cheese begins to melt. Slowly add milk. Heat through. Mix into broccoli and onions.
- Pour mixture into a lightly buttered baking dish (2-quart should be adequate).
- Sprinkle sharp cheese on top. Sprinkle breadcrumbs over all. Dot with butter (optional).
- Bake at 350 degrees for about 30 minutes.
