    Kaluha Brownies with Butter Icing

    List of Ingredients




    For the Brownies:
    1 1/4 cup Flour
    1/4 tsp Baking Powder
    1/2 tsp Salt
    1/2 cup Butter
    1 large Egg
    3/4 cup brown Sugar
    1/4 cup + 1 Tbsp Kahlua or Coffee Liqueur
    1 cup Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips or Chopped Chocolate
    1/4 cup Chopped Nuts

    For the Brown Butter Icing:
    2 tbsp Butter
    1 tbsp Kahlua
    2 tsp Whipping Cream
    1 1/4 up Powdered Sugar

    Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Sift together flour, baking powder and salt. Set aside. Cream together butter, sugar and egg. Stir in 1/4 cup kahlua. Add flour mixture. Blend well. Fold in chips and nuts. Spread mixture into a 9" square pan. Bake for 30 minutes. Remove from oven and let cool slightly then brush top with remaining kahlua.

    While brownies are baking, prepare the icing. Heat butter until lightly browned. Remove from heat and add kahlua, cream and sugar. Beat until smooth. After brownies have completely cooled, spread with icing. Makes 16 brownies.

    Note: For chewier brownies bake in an 8" round pan for 25 minutes.
