    Oatmeal Cookies - Grandma

    Grandma Nanny or Gramma Mom

    Recipe Introduction

    This recipe has been in the family for a long long time. I am not sure who first made it, my mom Norma Storm said that her gramma made these for her, but Gramma Mom said that she made them first.

    List of Ingredients

    1 Cup butter, creamed
    1 cup light brown sugar
    1/2 tsp baking soda
    1 egg
    1/2 tsp salt
    1/2 cup water minus 5 Tablespoons
    1 cup boiled raisins
    5 Tablespoons raisin juice
    2 cups Oatmeal
    2 Cups Flour
    1 Tsp Vanilla
    2 Tsp baking powder
    1 cup chopped walnuts

    Recipe

    In Saucepan bring to boil 2 cups of water and 1/2-3/4 cup of raisins. Let stand 20 minutes to cool, then drain, saving 5 Tablespoons of the liquid.

    Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

    Cream butter and brown sugar.
    Add egg, water & raisin water and vanilla.

    Combine dry ingredients and add to the creamed mixture.

    Add well drained plumped raisins, (nuts and chips optional)

    Chill cookie dough fr 30 minutes.

    Drop by teaspoon full on to creased cookie sheet.

    bake 12-5 minutes depending on oven

    Store in container with tight lid.

    *nuts and chips were not in the original recipe.
