    German Fruitcake

    List of Ingredients




    3/4 cup butter or margarine
    2 cups sugar
    4 Eggs
    3 cups flour
    1/2 teaspoon allspice
    1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
    1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
    1 cup buttermilk
    3/4 teaspoon soda
    2/3 cup cherry preserves
    2/3 cup apricot preserves
    2/3 cup pineapple preserves
    1 cup chopped pecans
    1 teaspoon vanilla

    Recipe





    Cream butter, sugar and eggs until light. Sift flour, allspice,
    cinnamon and nutmeg together. Add soda to buttermilk.
    Add dry ingredients and buttermilk alternately to creamed
    mixture, mixing after each addition. Fold in preserves,
    pecans and vanilla. Bake in 2 greased and floured 9x5x3
    inch loaf pans or 1 large tube pan at 325 degrees 1 1/2
    hours. Cool in pan 15 minutes before removing cakes.
