Tried and True, for 50 years, that I can think of.
List of Ingredients
1 pkg.dry yeast
2 T. lukewarm water
5 c. all purpose flour
1 tsp. baking soda
3 tsp. baking powder
2 c. butter milk
4 T. sugar
1 tsp. salt
1 c. shortening
Recipe
Dissolve yeast in water.
Into a bowl, sift flour with other dry ingredients.
Cut in shortening, add buttermilk, then add yeast mixture. Stir until all flour is dampened. Knead on floured board a min.
Roll to desired thickness, and cut with a biscuit cutter.
Bake at 400 for 12 mins. Brush with a little butter when they come out of oven. Dough may be kept in refrigerator about 1 week.
