Aunt Merilyn's Pretzel Salad

Aunt Merilyn
1 1/2 c. crushed pretzels
1/4 c. plus 1 tsp. sugar
3/4 c. melted butter or oleo
Mix above ingredients then press into 9x13" baking dish.
Bake 350 for 10 mins. Cool.
Mix:
1 c. sugar
1 lb. cream cheese
8 oz. cool whip.
Spread over cooled crust and refrigerate until chilled.
Mix:
6 oz. pkg. strawberry jello and 2 c. boiling water.
Add:
1 lb. sliced strawberries, fresh or frozen
Cool if using fresh berries, then pour over cheese layer in baking dish and refrigerate.
Cut into squares and serve with a spatula.
