    Bohemian Nut Slices

    Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method

    1 package active dry yeast
    1/4 cup water -- warmed
    1 teaspoon sugar
    2 cups all-purpose flour -- sifted
    1/2 teaspoon salt
    3/4 cup margarine
    2 egg yolks
    Filling:
    2 egg whites
    1/2 cup sugar
    1 teaspoon vanilla
    1/2 cup chopped nuts

    Mix yeast, warm water and sugar and let stand 10 minutes. Put the flour, salt and margarine in a large bowl; cut together until like coarse meal. Blend in egg yolks and yeast mixture. Mix into a smooth ball of dough. Divide in half; roll out each half to a 13x9-inch rectangle. Spread with half the filling and nuts. Roll up, put on a greased cookie sheet. Make a 1/2-inch slit down center lengthwise. Repeat with remaining dough and filling.
    Bake at 375 F. for 22 minutes. While still warm, sprinkle with confectioner's sugar. Cool; slice diagonally to serve.
