    Mom's Hush Puppies

    Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method
    -------- ------------ --------------------------------
    2 cups self-rising white cornmeal
    1 tablespoon sugar -- optional
    1 small onion -- chopped fine
    3/4 cup milk
    1 egg -- beaten

    Combine cornmeal, sugar and onion in a bowl. Add milk and egg and mix well. Drop in deep, hot fat by heaping teaspoons and fry, a few at a time, until golden brown.

    Makes alot
