Sour Cream Pecan Rolls

1 package active dry yeast
1/4 cup water -- warmed
1/4 cup shortening
1/2 cup boiling water
1/8 cup sugar
1 teaspoon salt
3 cups all-purpose flour
1 egg
2/3 cup brown sugar
1/3 cup sour cream
1/2 cup pecans -- chopped
Dissolve yeast in warm water; let set 5 minutes. Melt the shortening in boiling water. Add sugar and salt; dissolve and cool to lukewarm. Stir in the yeast mixture, and add half of the flour and the egg. Beat till smooth. Add remaining flour and knead lightly. Let rise.
Roll out into a 15x8-inch rectangle; spread with sour cream. Sprinkle with brown sugar and pecans. Roll up as for jelly roll; slice. Place in a greased pan and let raise. Bake at 375 F. for 45 minutes. Frost if desired, but not necessary.
