    Aunt Helen's Poor Man's Cake

    Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method
    -------- ------------ --------------------------------
    1 1/2 cups water
    1/2 cup shortening
    1 cup raisins
    2 cups all-purpose flour
    1 cup sugar
    1 teaspoon baking soda
    1 teaspoon salt
    1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
    1 egg

    Put water, shortening and raisins in a saucepan; bring to boiling and boil 15 minutes. Cool.
    Sift together dry ingredients. Add cooled raisin mixture and egg; mix well. Pour into greased 9x13" pan and bake at 350 F. for 20 minutes. Sprinkle with powdered sugar or drizzle powdered sugar glaze on top.
