1 1/2 cups flour
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 cup butter
1/2 cup sugar
1 egg -- unbeaten
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/3 cup milk
1 pound can cherry pie filling
2 tablespoons butter
1/3 cup flour
1/4 cup sugar
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
Sift together flour, baking powder and salt. Cream the butter and sugar. Blend in the egg and vanilla. Add the dry ingredients alternately with 1/3 cup milk, beginning and ending with the dry ingredients. Blend well after each addition. Spread half the batter in bottom of a greased 9x9-inch baking pan. Spoon the can of cherry pie filling over batter. Drop remaining batter by spoonfuls over the filling. Cut the 2 tablespoons butter into 1/3 cup flour, with 1/4 cup sugar and the cinnamon. Sprinkle over batter.
Bake at 350 F. for 40 to 45 minutes. Serve warm.
