2 pounds lean ground beef
1 large onion -- chopped
29 ounces tomato sauce
1 can tomato soup (10-3/4 oz.)
1 can tomatoes (16-ounce) -- smashed
1 soup can water
1/2 stick margarine (this is correct!)
Seasonings to taste (salt -- pepper, garlic
powder and oregano)
4 cups elbow macaroni -- cooked and drained
Brown ground beef and onion in large deep skillet; drain off excess fat. Add tomato sauce, tomatoes, soup, water, margarine and seasonings to taste. Let simmer for about 30 minutes. Meanwhile, cook the macaroni in boiling salted water until tender; drain well. Mix macaroni and ground beef sauce together, stirring to blend well and serve.
Serves 6
Note: I got this recipe from a lady off of a recipe radio program, "Partyline" that I used to listen to everyday, up until it 1992. Its no longer being aired. I have huge notebooks full of these recipes that I copied everyday faithfully!
