Easy & Good Kringler
List of Ingredients
Crust:
1 cup flour
1/2 cup margarine or butter, chilled
2 tbsp. ice water
Puff Topping:
1 cup water
1/2 c. margarine or butter
1 cup flour
3 eggs
1/2 tsp. almond extract
Frosting:
1 cup powdered sugar
1 tbsp. margarine or butter, softened
1/2 tsp. almond extract
2 - 3 tbsp milk
sliced amonds or ch. pecans.
Recipe
Heat oven to 350.
Lighly spoon flour in measure cup and level off. In small bowl add flour and margarine. With pastry blender cut into size of peas. Sprinkle with water, 1 tbsp at a time - stir with fork until soft dough. Divide dough into two pieces.
On ungreased cookie sheet press each half into a 12X3" strip.
In saucepan heat water and 1/2 c. margarine to boiling. Remove from heat - immediately stir in 1 cup flour until smooth. Add eggs, 1 at a time, beating until smooth after each addition. Add almond extract. Spoon 1/2 of batter over each crust, spreading to 3/4 in of edge. Bake 350 for 50 - 60 minutes or until golden and puffy.
Let Cool (Topping will shrink and fall)
In small bowl blend frosting ingred together and spready on cooled pastry. Sprinkle with nuts. Yum.
