    Black Oil Cake

    List of Ingredients




    Black Oil Cake



    2 c flour
    2 c sugar
    1/2 c cocoa
    1 c buttermilk
    2 egg yolks
    1 tsp salt
    1 tsp vanilla
    1 tsp baking soda
    1 c oil
    1 c boiling water



    Bittersweet Chocolate Frosting

    1 c sugar
    1 c water
    3 tbsp corn starch *
    3 oz unsweetened chocolate
    1/8 tsp salt
    1 tsp vanilla


    Recipe




    Cake:
    Mix by hand, all ingredients EXCEPT water.
    When well mixed, add water and mix.
    Pour into greased 9 x 13 baking pan.
    Bake at 350 for 35 to 40 minutes
    Prepare frosting while cake bakes - cake is frosted while warm.



    Frosting:

    Combine first 5 ingredients and cook in amedium saucepan until thickened. Stir constantly.
    Cool 10 minutes.
    Add vanilla.

    Frost cake while cake is warm.

    NOTES:
    * I use flour in place of corn starch.
    Allow cake to cool slightly before frosting, it should be warm but not hot.
    This is a very moist cake.
