    Cinnamon Bread/Coffee Cake

    List of Ingredients





    4 tbsp unsalted butter
    2/3 c sugar
    1 egg beaten
    ½ c milk
    1 ¾ c flour, sifted
    1 tbsp baking powder
    ¼ tsp salt

    Topping:
    3 tbsp sugar
    1 ½ tsp cinnamon


    Recipe





    Preheat to 400. Grease an 8-inch square pan.

    Cream butter. Add sugar and beat until thoroughly mixed.

    Add egg and milk; mix well.

    Sift dry ingredients together, then add and stir just until blended.

    Pour into greased pan.

    Mix sugar and cinnamon, then sprinkle over top.

    Bake for 20 minutes. Serve warm.

    NOTES:
    The original recipe calls for 2/3 c brown sugar in the cake and 3 tbsp brown sugar in the topping.
    I used regular sugar and it was delicious. (Allergies do not permit brown sugar.)

    I made this the night before and we heated pieces in the microwave.
    It was very good.
