Cherry Coffee Cake

Recipe Introduction
This recipe was in a hand written cookbook we received as a wedding gift. It is a family favorite, delicious, and one I am honored to share in memory of the wonderful woman who gave it to me.
List of Ingredients
3/4 c sugar
1/4 c butter
1/4 c shortening
3/4 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
1/2 tsp almond extract
2 eggs
1 1/2 c flour
1 can cherry pie filling (15 oz)
Glaze:
1/2 c powdered sugar
1 tbsp milk
1/2 tsp vanilla
Recipe
Preheat to 350. Lightly spray a 9 x 13 pan.
Beat sugar, butter, shortening, baking powder, vanilla, almond extract, and eggs at high speed for 3 minutes.
Stir in 1 1/2 c flour.
Pat 2/3 of batter into pan.
Spread can of cherry pie filling on top of batter.
Dot with remaining batter.
Bake at 350 for 30 to 40 minutes, or until golden.
Cool slightly, then drizzle with glaze.
Glaze:
Combine all ignredients and stir until well mixed.
Spread.
Makes 12 to 15 servings.
