    Oh, these are soooo good!!

    This cookbook has selected recipes from the favorite cookbooks of North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska and Kansas. This recipe is attributed to "Heavenly Recipes".

    List of Ingredients




    Layer One:
    1/2 c powdered sugar
    1 c butter, softened
    2 c flour

    Layer Two:
    8 oz cream cheese, softened to room temperature
    2 eggs
    1/2 c sugar
    1 tsp almond extract

    Topping:
    1/4 c butter
    1 1/2 c powdered sugar
    1 1/2 tbsp milk
    1 tsp almond extract

    slivered almonds, opt.

    Recipe



    Layer One:
    Preheat to 350.
    Combine ingredients until well mixed.
    Press into a 9 x 14 pan.
    Bake for 15 minutes.

    Layer Two: Prepare while layer one bakes.
    Beat ingredients until creamy.
    Pour over baked crust immediately after removing from the oven.
    Bake for 15 more minutes.
    Let cool completely.

    Topping:
    Mix all ingredients and spread over cooled bars.
    Put slivered almonds on top.

    Notes:
    I used unsalted butter, regular cream cheese and large eggs.
    I chopped the almonds and spread them on top.
    I had to add additional mik to the topping to get it to spreading consistency.
