    High School Brownies

    List of Ingredients




    1 c flour
    3/4 c cocoa
    3/4 tsp salt
    1/2 lb (1 c) butter or magarine
    2 c sugar
    4 eggs
    1 tsp vanilla
    1 c pecans, optional

    Recipe



    Preheat to 275. Grease and flour a 9 x 13 pan.

    Cream butter. Add sugar and mix well.

    Add eggs and mix well.

    Add vanilla and mix.

    Add dry ingredients and stir.

    Pour into prepared pan and bake for about 1 hour.

    Makes about 2 dozen.

    NOTES:
    This is a slow cooked brownie. Very chewy.

    Recipe is supposed to be from McMain Girl's High School and originates in the 1940's.

    These did not rise. I may add baking soda or powder next time.
    I found more baking time was necessary.
    I used unsalted butter but may try margarine next time, just to compare.
