    Recipe Introduction

Very similar to Texas Cake or chocolate sheet cake, but with less fat and not quite as sweet. These are very good.

    List of Ingredients

    1/2 c butter or margarine
    1 1/4 c sugar
    2 eggs
    1 tsp vanilla
3 oz unsweetened chocolate, melted and cooled
    1 c milk
    1 1/2 c flour
    2 tsp baking powder
    1/2 tsp salt
    1 c chopped walnuts, opt.

    Frosting:
    2 tbsp butter
    2 oz unsweetened chocolate
    1/4 c milk *
    3 c sifted powdered sugar

    Recipe

    Preheat to 350.
    Grease a 15 x 10 x 1 inch pan.
Beat butter for 30 seconds with electric mixer.
Add sugar and beat until fluffy.
Add eggs, vanilla, and melted chocolate; beat well.
Combine flour, baking powder and salt.
Add dry ingredients to butter mixture alternately with milk, mixing well after each addition - be sure to begin and end with dry ingredients.
    Stir in walnuts, if desired.
    Pour batter into pan.
Bake for 18 to 20 minutes.
    Cook on a wire rack.
    Frost before serving.
    Makes 36 bars.

    Frosting:
Combine butter, unsweetened chocolate and milk.
    Heat until chocolate melts.
Add sifted powdered sugar and stir until well mixed.
Thin with extra milk if needed to spread.

    NOTES:
I used real butter, large eggs, and omitted the walnuts.
    I baked for 18 minutes.
I heated the frosting ingredients in the microwave, stirring frequently. I had to add more milk to get it to spreading consistency.
