I used limes in place of lemons and this is just so refreshing! Tangy and delicious.
List of Ingredients
1 1/2 c sugar
1 1/2 c water
1 tbsp lime zest*
1 1/2 c fresh lime juice
pinch of salt
Recipe
Combine sugar and water in a saucepan.
Heat on medium high heat just to a boil, stirring until the sugar has dissolved.
Remove from heat and add zest.
Cover and let stand for 10 minutes.
Then pour through a strainer into a medium sized bowl.
Stir in the lime juice and salt.
Let cool to room temperature.
Cover and chill for about 3 hours. It needs to be thoroughly chilled.
Pour into the ice cream freezer and process according to manufacturer's directions.
This will be soft but ready to eat.
NOTES:
I used a little more than 1 tbsp zest and it was very tangy.
The original recipe calls for the same amounts using lemons.
