3 apples, peeled and chopped
1 can (12 ounces) refrigerated flaky biscuits
1/2 cup packed light brown sugar
1/4 teaspoon apple pie spice
1/4 cup plus 3 tablespoons maple syrup, divided
1 egg, lightly beaten
1/2 cup chopped pecans or walnuts
1 package (3 ounces) cream cheese, softened
1/3 cup confectioners sugar
Recipe
Preheat the oven to 350. Coat an 8 in square baking dish with nonstick cooking spray.
Sprinkle half of the apples over the bottom of the
baking dish, spreading evenly.
Separate the biscuit dough into individual biscuits; cut each biscuit into four pieces.
Arrange the pieces over the apple mixture.
Top evenly with the remaining apples.
In a small bowl, combine the brown sugar, apple pie spice, 1/4 cup maple syrup, and the egg; mix well.
Stir in the nuts.
Spoon over the apples and bake for 35 to 45 minutes, or until golden and cooked through.
Allow to cool for 10 minutes.
In a small bow., combine the cream cheese, confectioners sugar and remaining 3 tablespoons maple syrup; whisk until smooth and pourable.
Drizzle over the coffee cake, Cut and serve warm.
